Auricular Prosthesis or Ear prosthesis is a prosthetic device that replaces all or part of the ear, usually made from silicone or acrylic.
The Ear prosthesis provides a great option for those patients who do want to undergo surgery for their missing ear, failure of a previous surgery or for those who want a simpler, more aesthetic solution for their ear defect.
You would require an ear prosthesis if:
An initial facial scan or impression will be made to replicate your facial structures.
Once a facial moulage is obtained, your ear is fabricated using silicone. Having a picture prior to fabrication will be helpful in determining the shape of the final prosthesis. The prosthesis is matched to your skin tone.
The prosthesis can either be retained by means of an adhesive or by dental implants.
Can I wear this prosthesis all the time?
We do not recommend wear of the prosthesis while bathing, playing sports, swimming or while sleeping.
What care should I take for my prosthesis?
Prosthesis maintenance is very simple and easy.
